Wattle Extract

Native to Australia, the Black Acacia (Acacia mearnsii) is also grown in Brazil, China, Vietnam, South Africa, Kenya, and India.  Rich in tannins, wattle is used extensively as a tanning agent in the leather industry.

Wattle Extract can be used as a dye with or without mordant. The resulting colors cover a wide range from beige to brown, grey and almost black with ferrous (iron) sulfate, for instance. The blacks will be obtained in combination with other tannins extracts (Logwood Extract) and with ferrous (iron) sulfate.

Note: Wattle extract varies in color from a light tan to rust.
